Parenting is a Serious Job – Articles Revisited
Parenting is a big job and it’s a serious one as well. It’s perhaps the single most important responsibility you can have – shaping the life of another and doing the best you can to help them have a happy life.
Raising children is also something that should come naturally to the self-reliant, a bit like feeding and clothing and providing shelter for them. Let’s take a look at how some of our writers engage in parenting.
Brad suggests we consider 10 important keys to parenting, and they all center on being a good role model. I think it’s true. Mark and his family practice reading aloud. He says it promotes many of the ideals that we espouse here at Self Reliance Works. It’s a family tradition that has its roots back before Mark and his family were a family.
Joan offers us a story about money management lessons for a teenager, and I just can’t think of any group of people who need it more, except for all the rest of us who aren’t teenagers.
Last on our list for this Friday’s revisited articles is one from Mark who explains the importance of family meals. He has lots of good suggestions that we can all implement, even if we don’t have a traditional family.
