Simple Living – Posts Revisited
Welcome to another visit to our archive to resurface articles from our writing team. Today let’s focus on the theme of simple living.
It seems that life has a way of getting complicated all on its own, so simple living has a particular appeal to many of us. If we simplify our lives, it allows us to focus better on those things we deem important. If there is anything I’ve learned from the business world it’s that focus works. So, let’s get focused on simple living.
You might be surprised to learn about what simple things in life can mean to us when we focus on reducing unnecessary complexities that tend to get in the way.
First up is Mark who suggests that the key to a simple life isn’t having what you love, but rather, loving what you have. If you appreciate what you have, you’ll likely be much more satisfied, and that can fill the voids that otherwise might be filled with acquiring more “stuff.”
Our next article is from Joan who gives us a real example of how a member of her family learned that more stuff doesn’t equal more happiness. It reminds me of an exercise that we conducted in grade school, where we counted our blessings. When we deliberately look to see how blessed our life is, it’s sometimes quite easy to see that even a simple life is one of abundance.
Back again is Mark who takes great pleasure in writing with a fountain pen. I can understand it, as I used to write with one almost exclusively many years ago. As Mark points out, we all have our favorite writing instruments, and it’s a simple pleasure that goes well with simple living.
To be sure, Mark is our most frequent writer when it comes to simple living, and he closes out today’s collection of posts by telling us that attuning to the seasons is a way of living a more simple life.

Okay then, that concludes today’s look into our archives to revisit four articles about simple living. Next week, let’s look at oil lamps. For some of us, they’re a normal source of household lighting, for the rest of us, they’re reliable backup lighting resources.
