Message from Clair Schwan, host of Self Reliance Works…
My life in general, and on several of my websites, revolves around the concept of being more self reliant and self directed. Any success I can claim in these areas must be shared with others, so here is my heartfelt thanks to those who have helped along the way…
First, I must recognize the influence of my grandparents who lived as young adults through the Great Depression and the hard times around World War II. Despite exceptionally challenging conditions, they raised children and served as a constant reminder to their grandchildren that even poor folks can make themselves a nice, comfortable spot in the world.
Second, my parents get a big thank you for helping me see the value of being frugal, investing in myself, doing things myself, and working hard. They showed me how to make an extraordinary life with a modest income.
Third, I have been so very fortunate to share the workplace with managers, supervisors and co-workers who helped me learn skills in the areas of thinking, writing, management, and general decision-making. Hanging around smart people can make you smarter. Thanks for letting me hang around and work as part of your team.
Next, I am honored by the talented writers here at Self Reliance Works who cooperate to provide regular quality content based on personal experience. They are fine people who once again place their trust in me to create a resource on the web for helping others learn about and enjoy the benefits of a more self reliant lifestyle. As one of our writers said so well, “We’re a team.”
A special thanks to my sweetheart Ellen who guided us to our new name and created our site banner. See, I do listen to you every now and then.
