As a young adult in college, I’m working towards self-reliance in every part of my life. My ambitions have always revolved around being independent and being my own best friend.
I’ve had a handful of life experiences that have helped me get where I am today. They include but are not limited to: backpacking and surviving in the wilderness for eight weeks, home schooling myself and graduating a year early from high school, and pushing through traumatic life events that have improved both my endurance and perseverance.
To me, self-reliance means being able to overcome obstacles without depending on others to do it for me. Words that come to my mind when I think of self-reliance are: independent, strong, creative, determination, inner peace, and mindfulness.
I am absolutely excited to be part of Self Reliance Works, and I’m grateful for the opportunity to write with an awesome and clever team of writers. Also, I am eager to learn more about self-reliance, and I want teach others what I’ve learned so far.
